When I sail, I usually put my keys, wallet, glass, etc. up on the shelf above the nav station. The problem is at the end of the day, some of the items may have slid down behind the VHF or up against the front lip, and I don’t see them. I often get home and realize I left something on the boat. Or can’t get out the marina gate because I don’t have the key. Or I get to the car and can’t open it… You get the idea. 😞
I found some plastic trays that fit nicely up there. They came as a set of three, so Susan and I each have one, and there is one left over for the iPad and other miscellaneous items.
We added some non-skid drawer-liner inside each one as well as one the shelf. Now we have a nice looking, organized area. All my items go in one tray, and I take it down at the end of the day and empty it into my pockets.
This is a really little thing, but it made a big difference.
